On 14 November 2025, the Talent Development Committee of the Beijing Patent Attorneys Association (BJPAA) organizes an online pro bono training session featuring “Strategies in Responding CNIPA Office Actions”. The event is the 12th session of BJPAA’s IP-themed pro bono training program.
Yang Qian, Patent Attorney and Attorney-at-law, Wanhuida Intellectual Property, shares insights on “Strategies in Responding CNIPA Office Actions & Drafting Tactics”. Mr. Yang first prepares the floor on the significance of properly responding office actions from the patent granting and invalidation angle. He then delves into the strategies and tactics employed in responding office actions in the preliminary examination, substantive examination as well as reexamination proceeding. He concludes the presentation by underlining the pitfalls in drafting new patent applications and cautioning that patent applicants should leave sufficient leeway for potential argumentation and amendment in the future.
The presentation offers practical takeaways to audience. The session is moderated by Nathan Ren, the firm’s Patent Counsel and Attorney at law.
The event brings together around 100 attendees from BJPAA members, local businesses, and research institutes.
