Overview

Lei Yongjian is a Partner at Wanhuida Intellectual Property and an attorney-at-law admitted to practice in China.

Mr. Lei has been practicing intellectual property (IP) law since his graduation from the Law School of Peking University in 2008. Over the years, he has honed his expertise and developed a meticulous and client-centric approach in a wide range of administrative, civil and criminal IP cases before the administrative agencies and the judiciary.

Mr. Lei’s practice covers prosecution, enforcement and litigation. He provides agile, reliable and effective legal solutions, with a focus on bad-faith preemptive trademark filings, well-known trademark recognition, trademark enforcement, licensing, geographic indications, domain name and copyright. He also advises Chinese enterprises on their oversea trademark prosecution matters and other IP-related legal and business strategies.

Mr. Lei assists many world-known clients in formulating trademark strategies and building trademark portfolios. His foreign clientele includes magnates from US, Canada, Europe and Japan, cutting across industrial sectors including apparel, entertainment, FMCG, IT, healthcare, luxury, wines, and retail.

Mr. Lei has been instrumental in helping a French client maintain the registration of one of its trademarks of strategical significance, a case that has been selected by the China Supreme Court for its Annual 50 Exemplary Cases of the year.

In 2018, Mr. Lei was recognized as an IP leader of China in the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) by the US Department of State. He is also affiliated to major IP associations, including the International Trademark Association (INTA), the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI), MARQUES, just to name a few. After successively serving the INTA Young Practitioners Committee (2018–2019) and the Trademark Office Practices Committee (2020-2023), he has been sitting on the organisation’s Geographical Indications Committee since 2024, with his term extended to 2027. He is also a member of the AIPPI China Trademark Committee and AIPPI China GI Committee, as well as the MARQUES GI team.

He was listed in ALB China Top 15 IP Lawyers in 2019. He made his debut in the 2025 version of the World Trademark Review 1000, ranked under Leading Individuals in the China chapter for his expertise in Prosecution and Strategy. He made the list again in 2026.
