Supreme People's Court (SPC) announced on February 25 that 30,626 civil cases related to IPR at first instance were received by the national court system in 2009, up 25.49%, in addition to 2,072 IPR administrative cases while another 3,660 criminal cases were concluded.
As an important year of implementing the Outline of the National Intellectual Property Strategy, 2009 witnessed a steady increase of IPR cases. According to the SPC statistics, the national court system received 30,626 more civil cases related to IPR at first instance and concluded 30,509, up 25.49% and 29.73% respectively. Among all the received cases, 4,422 on patents, 6,906 on trademarks, 15,302 on copyrights, 747 on technical contracts, 1,282 on unfair competitions, and the remaining 1,967 are other types.
