On Dec 15th, 2009, EU-China Workshop on China's Trademark System, co-organized by the EU-China Project on the Protection of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR2), the Office for Harmonisation in the Internal Market (OHIM) and China’s Trademark Office under the State Administration for Industry and Commerce (SAIC), was held in Brussels.

Mr. Bai Gang, Wan Hui Da Founding Partner and Deputy Chairman of the Agency Branch of the China Trademark Association addressed the workshop on China’s Trademark Agencies and their Role in Trademark Protection.

The workshop aims to raise awareness among European right holders on the Chinese system for protecting trademarks and offers an occasion to hear directly from Chinese officials about China’s protection mechanisms with the opportunity for an exchange of Q&A.

This workshop followed a series of roving workshops in China – Xi’an, Guangzhou, Tianjin – on the Community Trademark and 3-dimensional designs in October 2009, also organised in co-operation with OHIM and SAIC, for Chinese companies who are investing in trademarks and their protection in Europe.
