Enacted in July 1, 1992, the Intellectual Property Code of France (Legislative Part) was the first ever codification of such field in the world. The work is characterized by the extensive coverage of protection, high level, quick updates and forceful enforcement. The Code represents the highest achievements of legislation by the civil law system and serves as a systematic reference for legislation in the field of intellectual property rights for other countries of the civil law system.
In order to facilitate the research and comparison on the part of readers, the translator, Dr. Huang Hui, obtained the written permission from Mr. E. Curchod, deputy Secretary-General of the World Intellectual Property Organization so that the English version of the code translated by the Organization was also annexed in the book. Professor Zheng Chengsi of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Professor of the translator, carried out the review of the version of the Chinese translation based on the English version.
