Ms. Hu Meili is a Partner at Wanhuida Intellectual Property, where she has been practising since 2007. She is an attorney-at-law admitted to practise in China.

 

Meili’s practice covers prosecution, enforcement and litigation, with a focus on trademark, copyright, and domain name. She has rich experiences in trademark prosecution, well-known trademark recognition, Customs protection, copyright and domain name matters, enforcement and administrative litigation, among others.

 

She frequently advises industrial leaders on the formulation and execution of comprehensive IP protection strategies. She has served Fortune 500 companies in the consumer goods and services, media and entertainment, as well as pharmaceuticals and life sciences industry.

 

Meili represented a global dairy company in canceling several copycat trademarks registered in various classes. She successfully invalidated for the same client, slavish copy of its core brand. Her experience also extended to removal of copycat trademark registered on quite dissimilar class of goods through administrative lawsuit. She vigorously defended for her client the registration of an extensively used trademark, which was erroneously dubbed as being “misleading and non-distinctive”. She managed to assist several clients in obtaining well-known trademark recognition in China.

 

Meili is also an active contributor. She authors quite a dozen articles, some of which were widely read and shared by in-house counsels and peers. Her expertise is sought by IP think tank on quite a few occasions.

 

In 2023, Meili was included in the talent pool of Beijing Lawyers Association. She is also an elected Member of the Foreign-related Law Research Institute of Haidian District Lawyers Association.
