Wanhuida Partner speaks at oriGIn 2024 Expert Meeting in Geneva

On 10-11 October 2024, the global Geographical Indications community meet again in Geneva for the oriGIn 2024 Expert Meeting on GIs Protection and Enforcement. During two days of debate and networking, 180 participants from 35 countries discuss crucial topics related to GI protection and enforcement, from the WIPO Lisbon System and bilateral agreements to challenges in GI registration, conflict with trademarks, evocation beyond the EU, GI used as ingredients, issues related to competition law and online protection.


The event attracts delegates from GI groups, law and consultancy firms, IP Offices, international organizations, as well as national authorities, institutes and universities.


Paul Ranjard, Partner of Wanhuida Intellectual Property shares insights on “Geographical Indications vs. Trademarks in China”. Paul prepares the floor on the GI registration and enforcement regime in China and delves into the solutions available to GI right holders in different scenarios of conflicts between GI rights and trademarks from a legislative and case law perspective.




Paul also exchanges experience and best practices on pertinent topics with his fellow panelists.
