On October 18, 2011, Japan Patent Office (JPO) Commissioner Mr. Yoshiyuki IWAI, Director of International Affairs Division Mr. Tomoki SAWAI, and Deputy Director of International Affairs Division Mr. Masaru TAKAHASHI, accompanied by Japan External Trade Organization Beijing Office (JETRO Beijing) Director of IPR Department Mr. Toshio TANIYAMA, Deputy Director of IPR Department Mr. Norifumi KOSO, paid a visit to Wan Hui Da. WHD Senior Partner, Dr. HUANG Hui, Mr.YIN Xintian, Mr.CAO Zhongqiang and Senior Counsel Mr. FENG Chao received them at the firm’s Beijing office.

Dr. HUANG Hui represented WHD to express a warm welcome to Japanese delegates. Also, he wished to take this chance to conduct in-depth communication and discussion with JPO on the IPR protection work in the broader regions. According to Mr.Yoshiyuki IWAI, their main purpose for this visit is to strengthen mutual cooperation with WHD in connection with IP matters, so as to protect the interest and right of Japanese enterprise in China effectively.

During the meeting, Dr. HUANG Hui briefly summarized WHD’s business scope and major achievements in IP filed, particularly referring to the communications with Japan in IP protection. Focusing on Japanese enterprise’s IP protection in China, he mentioned the latest status of the case “Crayon Shin” as a successful example of a series of trademark protection cases operated by WHD. Besides, he also stressed the upcoming revision to trademark and patent law, where WHD has been playing a significant role during the process.

As to the sharp increase of China IP lawsuits recently, Mr. CAO Zhongqiang and Mr. YIN Xintian explained the reason in details to Japanese delegates. In addition, they introduced the type of litigation subject in China IP lawsuits and the recognition of famous trademark.
